Come outside and enjoy the scenery of Newfounland’s beautiful southwest coast!  The Feather & Folk Festival is a time of year when everyone gets a chance to explore nature, while having fun and learning new and exciting things about Newfoundland’s natural heritage.  If you are interested in birds and wish to join  us in celebrating the beauty of Newfoundland’s southwest coast, the Feather & Folk Festival is an excellent place to be!

At the Feather and Folk Festival, there is something for everyone!  From May 31 to June 9, you will have the opportunity to join birding experts as they tour some of Newfoundland and Labrador’s hottest birding areas.  Witness the many migratory species that wing their way to our southwest coast.  Over the course of your stay, discover the local folklore and experience cultural activities through the best of local entertainment and cuisine. Visit our calendar of events and plan to take in the many activities that await you!

This year, the Feather & Folk Festival will bring events into our schools! Children of all grades and ages will be able to enjoy Festival activities such as coloring contests, school tours and much more!  Stay tuned to see what events are coming your way!

Be on the lookout again this year for our friend Sandy, the Piping Plover! Sandy is the mascot for the Feather & Folk Festival, as well as a familiar bird face in our area of the province. Last year Sandy spent time in Francois visiting the students who named him.  Sandy visited children in other areas, too, such as Burgeo where he played with kids at the park, giving them activity books and candy.  So keep your eyes open for Sandy, our Piping Plover Friend!

Springfest is not just about sharing what we know.  We would like to hear what you have to say too!  So feel free to send us your blogs and we’ll feature them on our Springfest website!
